Piece-By-Piece

The calmness that now surrounds her is surreal. She gave up on listening to the caved in walls regarding where her value comes from and how she should see herself.

Never in a million years would she have thought that she would shield out the noise and finally give her own thoughts a fair chance. Living in a world where she was constantly reminded that her value was seen within her " most precious" accessory.

Letting go for her crown made her realize that her other features had no fighting chance because of how screwed society's view on black beauty was seen. Having to hide her wide and expressive smile became exhausting because society deemed it as " too much".

Her eyes were never considered passionate enough because of how small they are and the skin which connected with the so heavenly sky was seen as disgusting and too rough to receive only good stares.

But now, piece-by-piece she wants to make each feature of hers seen because she can no longer be selfish enough to give the one a fair chance and the rest none at all.

This journey is hers to live by and experience, without the need to explain her every decision. So let her live out her wildest dreams and don't expect her to share the reason why, because it's her life to live and not ours to share.
